High school in Ireland starts at the age of 12 or 13
Consists of 2 three-year cycles; the Junior Cycle and the Senior Cycle
Junior Cycle, students study and take exams in 11 subjects
Senior Cycle students study and take exams in 6 or 7 subjects
The Irish high school qualification is called the Leaving Certificate – which can be used as the entry qualifications for any Irish or British university
