Category: Ireland Irish High School

Overview

A standard day school is the equivalent of a public school in most other countries. They are located in a wide range of locations throughout Ireland, often forming an important part of the local community.

Many, but not all, standard day schools have been built recently and so benefit from very modern academic and sports facilities. Class sizes will be bigger than in the private school sector, with approximately 20 – 25 students per class, so there is less individual attention, but nevertheless still excellent standards of teaching.

Spaces at standard day schools are limited and competition for places is fierce. Places are awarded on merit and the quality of applications. Only the best applicants will be successful.
