It’s been three months already 😱😍

Hello and welcome to my 2nd blog from Ireland!

It’s been three months already since my last blog at the beginning of my exchange year.

A lot happened during these three months. In this blog, I’ll talk about my daily routine, the exams that I wrote before the Christmas break and what it’s like to be back after spending two weeks home.

First, is my daily routine in Ireland. During the week I usually wake up at 6:45, except on Tuesdays because I have volleyball in the morning. Then, I make my breakfast which is porridge and I make coffee for me and my host brother. After that, I go to school till 15:00. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I go right after school with two friends to the gym. Sometimes I also do something with my friends after school or at the gym.

When I’m back home I do my homework and help my host parents with dinner, and we talk about our day and other topics. But sometimes I can’t eat with my host family dinner because I go on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:30-19:30 to the library to play the Piano. The only time when I don’t have a routine is at the weekend. My friends and I usually decide during the week what we want to do there. I just try to go to the gym on Sundays but If we have a trip, I just skip the gym on that day.

I also kept my daily routine during the exam week before Christmas. Before the exam week, all the teachers told us how important this exam week is and that we need to study a lot. Because of that, I was a little bit stressed out because I didn’t know how the exams here are. But because this school year isn’t important for me in Germany, I knew that it is ok when I’m not the best. In the end, the exams were easy, to be honest.

So, when you’re in your exchange year and you know that the grades here don’t count for you, then you don’t need to worry at all. You can pass the exams even though you didn’t study. The only thing that I didn’t like here is, that you usually write two exams in one day. For example, you can write English from 8:55-10:55, then you have a 15 minutes break and then you write Biology from 11:00-13:00.

But after that week, we were all excited about the Christmas break in which I flew home to my family in Germany. If you do an exchange year in Ireland or England it is common to fly home for these two weeks. Anyways the two weeks home were really nice. I spent a lot of time with my family and friends, and it was good to be home for Christmas.

Before I started my exchange year, I was worried if it would be hard to leave your family after the two weeks. But to be honest it wasn’t that hard. I think it was calmer this time than the first time because I already knew my host family and my school, and I already knew that I have friends here in Ireland. I think the first evening was just a little bit hard but the next day, everything was fine. After two days I was back in my daily routine and that helped a lot.

All in all, I’m looking forward to the next 4 months and I can’t wait to discover new things and places here in Ireland.
