High Schools International’s students, Anna Berger and Anna Katerina Stroetzel (Katerina), both hail from Germany and were sent over to Ireland by our agency partner, Ayusa – Intrax Germany. HSI placed Anna in the scenic west of Ireland in Galway City where she attends Presentation School Galway, while Katerina lives in Ireland’s capital city, Dublin, and goes to school at Our Lady’s Grove. There are 208km between the two friends, but that hasn’t stopped the pair staying in touch.

Both arrived in on the same day into Ireland where HSI staff greeted them on arrival at the airport before sending them safely off to where they were designated. Anna and Katerina have settled well into Ireland’s culture, so much so that during their mid-term break, they decided not to return to Germany for the holiday and instead took advantage of the opportunity they had to travel around and explore Ireland together.

To get the most out of High Schools International’s academic programme, students have to come over with a good attitude to learn English and an enthusiasm to adapt to their new surroundings. Anna and Katerina have embraced the intention to have a memorable year while living in Ireland and used the mid-term break to go on a road trip together to Co. Cork. The county is known for being a cultural region containing the second largest city in Ireland, Cork City, lush surrounding landscapes and a plethora of markets and cafes. Clonakilty is a village in County Cork that was recently bestowed the prestigious award of the Best Town in Ireland and the UK.

High Schools International can only provide the students a platform. What the students choose to gain from the academic programme is up to them. It is for that reason why we’re delighted to see that Anna and Katerina are determined to have a beneficial year by using their time to develop friendships, improve their English and make as many memories as possible.
